Jehovah made the deal fail so I could go where they needed me more
by NVR2L8 ina few weeks back i ran into an elder at a business meeting out of town.
i had seen him there before when i was a ms. this time i had a chance to tell him that my standing in the congregation had changed and that i was inactive.
he said that sometimes we need to take some time to reevaluate where we stand in the "truth".

Way to take the wind out of his sails! If he's a thinking man, there's no 'unhear'mnd button in his mind and he's bound to consider 'Jehovah's' interventions differently.
I hope. I remember when I was in, I thought Jehovah had maneuvered things so when I moved it would be into this congregation at that time, just so I could meet my husband...believers can be so egotistical.

1984 Bible release vs. now
by rebel8 inin 1984 a revised nwt was released.. i lived in jw fundieland at the time and i believe thats the year i got baptized.
this was the tail end of the great apostasy scare and a great gearing up for armageddon because we were told, in print, that it would come in the 20th century.
we were positively whipped up into a fervor.

And then when you leave the cult it's like, "things aren't so bad. We're getting by ok..." and they're like, WTF?
I told an elder who called me on the weekend, "We're happier than we've ever been, our relationships are better than they've ever been, and we're doing well financially. We must be doing something right [for Jehovah to bless us like this] even though we haven't been to meetings..."

by AndersonsInfo ini want to thank jehovah's witnesses new world bible translation committee for changing the words, "mentally diseased" as found in the 1984 edition of the nwt, to "obsessed with arguments," as found in 1 timothy 6:4 in the 2013 revised nwt.. on february 6, 2012, david splane, the overseer of the watchtower's writing department received an open letter from me which i posted below especially for new posters.
the topic of my letter was in response to the writing department's statement that ..."apostates are mentally diseased" in their july 15, 2011 watchtower.
the 1984 edition of the new world translation reads:.

What's with all the JWs unleashing the hate!?
by Julia Orwell inmost of us here on jwn, while we can get a bit narky at times, can put forth intelligent arguments and sound observations.
sure we can get bogged down with our opinions, but generally we back up our opinions with examples and evidence, and if someone has a different opinion with examples and evidence, we accept that without recriminations.
that's what adults do.. so my question is, why in the last week or so, have a couple of posters claiming to be jws come onto this forum and berated, spewed hate and judgement, and in some cases verbally attacked members personally?

I certainly don't want to love bomb these nasty types who have never met me. I just want to find out what their problem is with me/us personally! Which I think has been answered, in that they're an angsty bunch with no other outlet, on their high horse of moral/spiritual superiority.
